who would have thought that a soirée

inspired by the underground nightclubs of

paris, manhattan, berlin and shanghai, would still

be going strong 19 years later. i feel so blessed to have

worked with so many amazing musicians and performers,

and to have been able to cultivate relationships with the many

wonderful and unique people who attend my parties. the night

clubs of the 1920s and 1930s that inspired me, existed as both

a response and resistance to the cultural and political climate

of the times. it is no different today. despite the tumultuous

world we are living in, we can continue to gather together,

create community, and celebrate the art and culture

that makes each of us unique. this celebration is a

privilege and a necessity. it is also resistance.
